Among these revenue streams, performance fees remain a crucial and reliable source of income for the industry’s top stars. As the genre continues to gain global recognition, artists have been smiling all the way to the bank with the demand for their live shows both at home and abroad.

When it comes to determining who commands the highest performance fees, industry experts shed light on the subject. At the pinnacle of this lucrative ladder are Burna Boy and Wizkid. Burna Boy currently leads the pack, demanding a staggering 1 million dollars or more per show. Following closely, Wizkid charges between 800 thousand to 1 million dollars. Davido secures the third spot with his performance fees hovering around 500 thousand dollars, while Olamide also commands the same amount.

Interestingly, Rema surprisingly charges more than the renowned Tiwa Savage, with Rema’s fees standing at $200,000 and Tiwa Savage’s at $100,000. Meanwhile, rising stars like Tems and Ayra Starr have their respective performance fees set at 50 thousand dollars each.

Adefuwa-Cole points out that besides the fixed performance fees, artists often make additional demands for themselves and their crew to ensure a smooth and convenient show experience. These demands may include chartering flights, providing accommodation in premium suites, and arranging ground transportation and security.

As the Afrobeats genre continues to make waves globally, the demand for Nigerian artists’ performances shows no signs of waning. With Burna Boy and Wizkid leading the way, it’s evident that Nigerian music stars are capitalizing on their talent and popularity to secure substantial earnings from their live shows, solidifying their positions as major players in the international music scene.
