Black Sherif, Mohammed Kudus, Stonebwoy, and Others Lead the Pack with 8th EMY Africa Awards Nominations

The prestigious EMY Africa Awards is back, and it’s bringing a star-studded lineup of nominees for its 8th edition. The awards ceremony, known for celebrating the outstanding achievements of men who are making positive impacts on society, has gained significant recognition as one of Africa’s most prestigious honors. Additionally, this year’s event aims to recognize and appreciate women who have also contributed remarkably to society.

The nomination announcement show, which took place on Sunday, 16th July 2023, aired live on JoyPrime TV and Joy 997.FM, building anticipation for the main event scheduled for Saturday, 14th October 2023, in Accra. During the live show, the nominees for the five competitive categories, all of which involve public voting, were unveiled.

In the highly contested category of Man of the Year – Music, some of Ghana’s finest musical talents secured their spots. Black Sherif, Camidoh, Kidi, KingPromise, and Stonebwoy are set to battle it out for this coveted title.

The Actor of the Year category also boasts a lineup of remarkable talents, including Adjetey Annang, Tobi Bakre, Bill Asamoah, Anthony Woode, and Chidi Mokome.

The Designers of the Year category showcases exceptional creativity, featuring names like JayRay Ghartey (JayRay Fashion), Andrew Mackenzie (Jesu Segun Lomdon), Elikem Kumordzie (Elikem the Tailor), Free the Youth, and Kenneth Tetteh.

The Man of the Year – Sports category highlights individuals who have shined in the realm of sports, with Joseph Paul Amoah, Benjamin Azamati, Mohammed Kudus, and Abraham Mensah competing for the prestigious award.

Moreover, the Discovery of the Year category includes Manuel Koranteng, Paul Ninson, Perez Musik, and Mohammed Kudus, recognizing rising talents and promising contributions to various fields.

The EMY Africa Awards goes beyond these competitive categories and includes a series of honorary awards, such as the Magnate Award, Humanitarian Award, Young Achiever Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Diasporan Award, Continental Icon Award, The Technology Award, Woman of the Year, The Guardian Award, Health Award, and the Agriculture Award.

Kojo Soboh, the brain behind EMY Africa, revealed that the event will host a soirée in Lagos, Nigeria, in August, as part of the exciting build-up activities leading to the awards night.

As the nominees eagerly await the final verdict, the general public has a crucial role to play. Voting is now open, and fans can cast their votes by visiting www.emyafrica.com. Voting will close on Friday, 6th October 2023. Voters have the option to text “EMY,” followed by the name of the category and their favorite nominee to Shortcode 1393. Alternatively, they can vote digitally by liking the nominee’s post on @emyafrica’s Instagram page.

The EMY Africa Awards promises yet another top-tier production, setting the bar high for world-class events. The stage is set, and excitement is building as the event draws near, and the deserving recipients of these prestigious awards will be celebrated for their contributions to society.
