George Quaye Denies Claims of Artiste Sponsorship at Ghana Music Awards: Sets the Record Straight

Renowned Ghanaian entertainment journalist and former Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Charterhouse, George Quaye, has staunchly refuted recent claims made by gospel singer Jack Alolome regarding artiste sponsorship at the Ghana Music Awards (GMA). Quaye’s bold statement challenges assertions that certain artists have sponsored the prestigious awards scheme since its inception.

Jack Alolome raised eyebrows during a conversation on UTV’s United Showbiz show, suggesting that nominations at the Ghana Music Awards are influenced by personal connections rather than merit. He recounted instances where gospel musicians, including himself and Herty Borngreat, allegedly missed out on nominations due to their lack of insider connections.

In response, George Quaye firmly rejected these claims, asserting that no gospel musician has been overlooked during the nomination process. He went further to debunk the notion that any artist has ever sponsored the Ghana Music Awards, categorically refuting Jack Alolome’s assertions.

Quaye emphasized the importance of addressing the issue of lobbying within the Ghana Music Awards board, acknowledging it as a challenge they are actively working to resolve. He called on those making allegations of sponsorship to provide evidence to support their claims, challenging them to come forward and substantiate their accusations.

Quaye’s statement underscores the commitment of the Ghana Music Awards organizers to maintain transparency and integrity within the awards process. By confronting misconceptions and clarifying the facts, he aims to uphold the credibility of the prestigious awards and ensure fair recognition for deserving artists across all genres.
