Amerado Speaks Out: Family First, O2 Arena Later

In a candid interview on UTV’s United Showbiz Program, Ghanaian rapper Amerado made it clear that his main focus as a musician is not to fill the O2 Arena but to provide for his family. This statement comes in the wake of Nigerian artist Asake’s historic performance at the O2 Arena, which has sparked discussions about the achievements of Ghanaian musicians on the international stage.

Amerado, known for hits like “Abotr3,” expressed his admiration for Asake’s O2 performance and commended the Nigerian artist for his stage presence. However, he emphasized that this achievement doesn’t diminish the successes of Ghanaian artists like Stonebwoy and King Promise, who have been making waves in the music industry.

The rapper pointed out that social media trolls and competition from Nigeria do not significantly affect his music career or state of mind. Instead, he believes that Ghanaian artists have the potential to achieve similar feats, including filling up renowned international venues. The challenge, he noted, lies in the lack of internal support systems that propel talented artists to prominence.

Amerado also highlighted the difficulties he faces in securing shows to perform, underscoring the importance of providing for his family in these challenging times. He questioned the limited opportunities for artists to perform, especially in the wake of events like those organized in December.

While Amerado’s perspective underscores the importance of family and financial stability for artists, it also sheds light on the need for greater support and recognition within the Ghanaian music industry. As Ghana continues to produce talented musicians, fostering an environment that nurtures their careers and promotes their achievements on the international stage is essential.
