Bawumia: I have experience in campaigning and winning elections against Mahama

In his bid to secure the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position for the 2024 general elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emphasized his experience in campaigning and defeating former President John Mahama. Bawumia urged NPP delegates to choose a candidate with a proven track record in governance rather than simply a wealthy individual, emphasizing the need for a leader who can secure a consecutive term in power.

Having previously emerged victorious against Mahama in two elections, Bawumia confidently stated that he possesses the knowledge and strategy to triumph once again in the upcoming polls. He stressed the importance of selecting a selfless leader with humility, temperament, innovative ideas, and tolerance for all.

The NPP flagbearer race has attracted several prominent figures within the party, including Alan Kyerematen, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Francis Addai-Nimoh, Joe Ghartey, and Boakye Agyarko. Others vying for the position are Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, and Kennedy Agyapong.

As the contest unfolds, the focus on experience and the ability to secure victory against formidable opponents will likely influence the decision of NPP delegates. Bawumia’s claim of beating Mahama twice in previous elections and his commitment to lead the party to success in 2024 positions him as a strong contender for the party’s flagbearer position.

Ultimately, the NPP’s choice for its flagbearer will play a crucial role in determining the party’s prospects in the upcoming general elections. The candidate must inspire confidence within the party and resonate with the electorate, embodying the values and vision that will ensure a prosperous and successful future for Ghana.
