In the aftermath of the 2024 general elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, has officially conceded defeat. Speaking from his residence, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the decision of the Ghanaian electorate, stating, “The people of Ghana have spoken, and I respect their choice.”
Dr. Bawumia extended his congratulations to John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, for emerging victorious in the tightly contested race. He also expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their support throughout his political journey and assured the nation of a smooth and peaceful transition of power.
While the Electoral Commission is yet to declare the final official results, the NPP’s internal collation data confirmed Mahama’s decisive victory, prompting Bawumia’s concession. This marks a significant moment in Ghana’s political history, as the nation continues to demonstrate its commitment to democratic values
