Twitter Restores Kanye West’s Account After Ban for Offensive Tweets

Kanye West’s Twitter account has been restored after an almost eight-month ban due to his controversial and offensive tweets. The US rapper, also known as Ye, had been accused of violating Twitter’s rules against incitement to violence, leading to the suspension of his account.

The account, now reinstated, has not seen any new posts from Ye since the day before its suspension on December 2, 2022. During the ban, Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, rebranded the platform to X.

The ban came into effect after Kanye West posted a series of tweets, one of which seemingly depicted a combination of a swastika and the Star of David, sparking outrage and violating the platform’s guidelines. Prior to this, the rapper had faced a similar ban when he posted anti-Semitic messages in October, leading to his suspension from both Twitter and Instagram.

Adidas, the clothing giant, also cut ties with Kanye in response to the controversy, stating that they did not tolerate hate speech or anti-Semitism. Moreover, Kanye’s Instagram account was temporarily suspended for 24 hours in the past when he used a racial slur in reference to comedian Trevor Noah.

Elon Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter), has not publicly commented on Kanye’s account reinstatement. It’s worth noting that Musk had previously reinstated former US President Donald Trump’s account in November after conducting a poll, where 51.8% voted in favor of reinstatement. Trump, however, expressed no interest in returning to the platform.

As of now, Ye’s Twitter account remains inactive, leaving fans and followers eager to see if the rapper will change his approach to social media after this prolonged ban.
