Sarkodie Raises Alarm on Dumsor Threatening Babies’ Lives at Tema General Hospital

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has joined the chorus of voices expressing concern over the recent power outages, known locally as ‘dumsor,’ which have reportedly endangered the lives of babies at the Tema General Hospital. In a viral video shared on social media, a nurse at the hospital captured the dire situation as the facility experienced a sudden power cut, putting the lives of infants in incubators at risk.

“The Impact when we misplace priorities. we pray for these innocent babies,” Sarkodie wrote on his Instagram story, expressing his disappointment and frustration at the situation. The rapper’s post underscored the severity of the issue and called attention to what he perceives as misplaced priorities in the country.

The video, which has since sparked outrage among concerned social media users, highlights the urgent need for authorities to address the recurring power outages that continue to disrupt essential services and jeopardize lives. Many Ghanaians have expressed solidarity with the affected babies and their families, demanding swift action to mitigate the impact of dumsor on healthcare facilities and other critical sectors.

In response to mounting pressure, Energy Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh assured the public that the government is actively working to resolve the power crisis. While acknowledging the significant challenge posed by recent outages, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that addressing the issue requires a gradual process and urged citizens to remain patient.

The energy minister’s remarks come amid calls for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to publish a load-shedding timetable to provide clarity on power distribution schedules. However, Dr. Opoku Prempeh dismissed the idea, arguing that such a move would be counterproductive and tantamount to wishing harm on the country.
