Ghanaian Explorers Complete Epic Expedition from Accra to London Over Land
A group of thirteen Ghanaian adventurers, under the banner of “Wanderlust Ghana,” has etched their names in the annals of history by successfully completing an awe-inspiring 10,000-kilometer expedition over land from Accra to London. The journey, which commenced on July 23, 2023, saw the intrepid travelers traverse through Aburi, Nsawam, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Dormaa before crossing into Cote d’Ivoire via Gonokrom. The odyssey culminated in London on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
The diverse group, comprised of twelve men and one woman, embarked on this daring venture using five Ghanaian registered vehicles, including a Mercedez Benz G-Wagon, two Toyota Landcruisers (V8), a Lexus RX 350, and a Ford F150 Raptor. Among the participants was the trailblazing Nana Afua Serwaa, the sole female member, who, as an auto mechanic, was determined to master the mechanics of automobiles across various terrains and climates.
Kwabena Peprah, a member of the group, revealed that the expedition also served as a fundraising campaign for rural primary schools in Ghana. In an interview with the BBC, he emphasized their passion for adventure and tourism, stating, “the simplest answer is why not. We are adventure enthusiasts and tourism enthusiasts. We’ve been driving around our continent, we’ve been driving around our country, and we decided to take it to the next level.”
The goal of the fundraising campaign is to support EduSpots, a philanthropic organization creating educational hotspots for schools in underserved areas of Ghana. Through their journey, these daring explorers aimed to draw media attention and utilize it to uplift communities in need through education.
After 16 days of perseverance, the group received a jubilant welcome from supporters upon their arrival in London. The accomplishment stands as a testament to human resilience, wanderlust, and the power of philanthropy in transforming lives.
