Choplife Soundsystem, the dynamic collaboration between DJ Edu and Mr. Eazi, has officially launched their highly anticipated debut project, ‘Choplife Vol. 1 – Mzansi Chronicles,’ under the banner of Choplife Limited/emPawa Africa. This 14-track mixtape takes listeners on an electrifying journey through the vibrant club scene of South Africa, showcasing the country’s top talents.
Recorded between Capetown and Johannesburg in 2022 and 2023, ‘Choplife Vol. 1 – Mzansi Chronicles’ serves as an immersive introduction to the essence of the South African music landscape. The project features captivating collaborations with renowned artists such as Focalistic, Anaati, Ami Faku, Moonchild Sanelly, Major League DJs, Mellow and Sleazy, Nkosazana Daughter, 2woshort, Stompiiey, Mo-T, and Aymos, among others.
Choplife Soundsystem, a name derived from West African pidgin slang meaning “enjoy life,” is committed to crafting music that evokes happiness, wellness, and pure enjoyment. Their intention is to cultivate positive and carefree vibes through their music and events. Mr Eazi emphasizes the seriousness and dedication behind this project, emphasizing that it is not merely a side endeavor.
The production for ‘Choplife Vol. 1 – Mzansi Chronicles’ is primarily helmed by Mozambique’s DJ Tárico, renowned for his 2021 hit “Yaba Buluku” featuring Burna Boy. Additionally, the mixtape features contributions from prominent South African beatmakers such as Mellow & Sleazy, Ghetto Boy, Milan Rendall, LuuDaDeejay, Soul Jam, Mathondos, and Nigeria’s Type A.
