This 14-track mixtape takes listeners on an electrifying journey through the vibrant club scene of South Africa, showcasing the country’s top talents.

Recorded between Capetown and Johannesburg in 2022 and 2023, ‘Choplife Vol. 1 – Mzansi Chronicles’ serves as an immersive introduction to the essence of the South African music landscape. The project features captivating collaborations with renowned artists such as Focalistic, Anaati, Ami Faku, Moonchild Sanelly, Major League DJs, Mellow and Sleazy, Nkosazana Daughter, 2woshort, Stompiiey, Mo-T, and Aymos, among others.

Choplife Soundsystem, a name derived from West African pidgin slang meaning “enjoy life,” is committed to crafting music that evokes happiness, wellness, and pure enjoyment. Their intention is to cultivate positive and carefree vibes through their music and events. Mr Eazi emphasizes the seriousness and dedication behind this project, emphasizing that it is not merely a side endeavor.

The production for ‘Choplife Vol. 1 – Mzansi Chronicles’ is primarily helmed by Mozambique’s DJ Tárico, renowned for his 2021 hit “Yaba Buluku” featuring Burna Boy. Additionally, the mixtape features contributions from prominent South African beatmakers such as Mellow & Sleazy, Ghetto Boy, Milan Rendall, LuuDaDeejay, Soul Jam, Mathondos, and Nigeria’s Type A.

The lead single, “Wena,” featuring the enchanting vocals of South African songstress Ami Faku, sets the tone for the project. Sung in Xhosa, the track narrates the story of two potential lovers whose connection remains unfulfilled, a narrative that finds solace on the dancefloor.

Another standout on the mixtape is the ethereal presence of Nkosazana Daughter, a rising star in South African music, lending her captivating voice to tracks like “Die For You” and “Indaba.” Rappers 2woshort and Stompiiey infuse their undeniable swag into “Big Boy” and “No Condom.” Meanwhile, “Tear Chain” and the Focalistic-assisted “By Force” serve as powerful anthems and personal manifestos, showcasing Mr. Eazi’s vision for 2023 and beyond.

With ‘Choplife Vol. 1 – Mzansi Chronicles,’ Choplife Soundsystem establishes themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Afrodance music scene. Their debut project not only encapsulates the spirit of South African music but also invites listeners to embrace a carefree and joyful existence. The electrifying beats and infectious collaborations create an immersive experience that celebrates the beauty of music and its ability to uplift and connect people.
