I had wanted to play the role of Emily in ‘YOLO’ not Serwaa – Fella Makafui

Actress and entrepreneur Fella Makafui recently revealed her initial reluctance to portray the character of Serwaa in the renowned ‘YOLO’ series. In an interview on The Afternoon Show, she disclosed her aspirations to play the role of Emily, Cyril’s girlfriend, instead.

During auditions for ‘YOLO,’ Makafui expressed her desire to embody the character of Emily, envisioning a different trajectory for her acting career. However, when offered the role of Serwaa by Director Ivan Quashigah, she initially declined, citing her past as a bread seller for her mother and her reluctance to reenact similar experiences on screen.

Reflecting on her journey, Makafui acknowledged her growth and the importance of embracing the auditioning process as an actor. Despite her initial reservations, she eventually embraced the role of Serwaa, contributing to the success of the series.

Currently, Makafui is focused on promoting her debut movie, ‘Resonance,’ set to premiere on May 11. As she continues to navigate the world of acting and filmmaking, her journey serves as a testament to the complexities of pursuing one’s dreams while honoring personal experiences and ambitions.
