Afronitaaa: My parents were initially not so supportive of my dancing career because of the perception they had about dancers
In a world where pursuing one’s passion can be met with scepticism, DWP Academy member and International choreographer, Afronitaaa, revealed that she faced initial challenges in gaining her parents’ approval for her chosen career path.

They harbored concerns about the potential impact on her education and feared that dancers were associated with a negative image, especially in the past.
“Okay, initially they were not so supportive because parents have some kind of perception that dancers are street kids and all that especially back in the day,” she said.
Determined to prove her parents wrong, Afronitaaa took on the mission of excelling academically while pursuing her dance aspirations. She understood that striking a balance between her passion and education was crucial to winning their support. With unwavering dedication, she worked hard to secure top grades while flourishing in her dance career.
