Piesie Esther, a female gospel singer from Ghana, has expressed great optimism regarding her chances of winning the Artiste Of The Year award at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The “Artiste of the Year” award is the highest and most prestigious of the awards presented at the event to the artist(s) deemed to have the highest audience appeal, radio play, online streaming, and popularity by CharterHouse, the VGMA Board, and the general public.
This year’s ‘Artiste of the Year’ Category, has eight heavyweights contending for i5. Two gospel artistes, Joe Mettle, and Piesie Esther face stiff competition from six secular musicians such as Sarkodie, Black Sherif, KiDi, King Promise, and Camidoh.
Though it’s looking almost impossible considering the presence of Black Sherif in the list, who has done numerous works in the year under review, appeared on both national and international platforms, etc, the ‘Way3 Me Yie’ singer is optimistic that she would emerge victorious.
Piesie Esther said during the most recent episode of United Showbiz, a UTV entertainment talk show, that she believes she will win the ultimate award, but that she will still be thankful to God even if she loses all of her awards to her fellow category members.
“I believe and have faith that I will pick up the ultimate award, however, if I don’t pick any awards, I will still be grateful to God for at least getting the recognition. It will hurt if I don’t win an award but I’m hopeful things will turn out good in the end,” she said.
The big night of the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center.
