Joe Mettle Reflects on Regrets of Not Taking Music Lessons Seriously in School

Ghanaian gospel singer Joe Mettle, renowned for his exceptional musical talent and numerous accolades, has opened up about his regrets regarding his attitude towards music lessons during his school years. The award-winning artist, born Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle, admitted that he didn’t fully appreciate the importance of music education at the time.

During an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Mettle shared his thoughts, saying, “I think I should have taken my music lessons seriously when I was in school. At that time, I didn’t know I would be pursuing music as a career, so I didn’t give it the attention it deserved. That is one regret I have in life.”

Mettle, who attended Accra Academy for his Senior High School education and Pentecost University for his tertiary education, initially had no plans to pursue a career in music. However, despite his initial indifference, he has gone on to establish an impressive musical career. With seven albums, numerous awards, a successful music studio named Reverb, and a renowned music band called Love Gift, Mettle has become a prominent figure in the Ghanaian music industry.

Reflecting on his journey, Mettle expressed contentment with the person he has become and the path that God has set for him. He emphasized, “I won’t choose who I am over anything. I think I love what God has made me and I love the assignment He has given me. Aside from everything, I enjoy serving in this ministry. I love to sing; I love to write. So I just love who I am and what I do.”

Outside of his musical endeavors, Joe Mettle shared his joy in his marriage to his wife, Salomey Selassie Dzisa, whom he married in 2020. He expressed gratitude for his fans’ unwavering support, acknowledging their role in his ministry. Mettle conveyed his appreciation, saying, “Thank you for supporting the gift and ministry God has given me. I believe that ministry is about people. So if they don’t support you, you have no ministry. Thank you for the prayers, the thoughts, and everything you do to support what God has called me to do.”

While Joe Mettle may have regrets about not taking music lessons seriously in his school years, his passion, talent, and dedication have propelled him to great heights in the music industry. His story serves as a reminder to young aspiring musicians to embrace every opportunity for growth and education, even if the path ahead seems uncertain.
