Youth Employment Agency Engages Shatta Wale on Shaxi Partnership to Create Jobs for Ghanaian Youth

In a bold step toward innovative youth empowerment, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the leadership of CEO Malik Basintale has engaged Ghanaian music icon and entrepreneur Shatta Wale to explore a potential partnership involving his ride-hailing initiative, Shaxi.

This engagement marks a significant collaboration between a key government agency and a private entrepreneurial venture aimed at addressing youth unemployment across the country.

Shaxi, a Youth-Centered Transport Solution. Launched by Shatta Wale in 2021, Shaxi, short for Shatta Taxi; is more than just a ride-hailing service. It was designed to empower young Ghanaians by offering them a platform to earn a living through transportation services. Shaxi connects vehicle owners and drivers with passengers via a user-friendly app, enabling unemployed or underemployed youth to earn sustainable incomes.

What sets Shaxi apart is its socially driven mission: to create real jobs for young people who often face limited opportunities in Ghana’s competitive job market.

Recognizing the potential of such a youth-centered platform, Malik Basintale, CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, initiated a dialogue with Shatta Wale to explore how the government agency can support and amplify the impact of Shaxi.

The partnership under discussion is expected to leverage YEA’s resources and nationwide reach to train, recruit, and support young drivers on the Shaxi platform. The agency is also looking into possible vehicle financing arrangements, entrepreneurship support, and technical training for participants.

According to Malik Basintale, this initiative reflects YEA’s broader vision of collaborating with dynamic private-sector actors to create modern, scalable employment pathways for Ghana’s youth. He emphasized that such partnerships are key to achieving long-term impact in job creation.

This engagement signifies a growing trend of public-private partnerships in Ghana, where influential creatives and innovators like Shatta Wale are becoming key partners in development. By tapping into Shatta Wale’s popularity and Shaxi’s grassroots appeal, YEA aims to bridge the gap between policy and practical employment solutions.

Shatta Wale, on his part, expressed appreciation for the YEA’s interest and commitment to supporting the youth. He reaffirmed his vision to use Shaxi as a vehicle for change, empowering the next generation through innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Youth Employment Agency’s decision to engage Shatta Wale on the Shaxi initiative is a commendable step toward inclusive, youth-driven development. As discussions progress, this potential partnership promises to deliver thousands of job opportunities and could serve as a national model for impactful collaboration between government and private innovators.
