Peace For Life Ghana Provide Mechanized Borehole For Suguru R/C JHS, Walewale

The Suguru R/C Junior High School in Walewale in the North East received a mechanized borehole from Peace For Life Ghana, a non-governmental organization.

The borehole’s official commissioning took place on the school grounds on Monday, February 13, 2023. Present at the commissioning was the headmaster, Mr. Sabirlia Stephen Subindam and his staff, the executive director of the organization Mr. Mutawakil Alhassan who is also the Chairman of the North East regional secretariat of the United Nations Association of Ghana. and representatives from the municipal education office Mr. Simon Daabo and Mr. David Awala, the SISO for walewale east, the PTA Chairman, Mr. Anafu George, St. Paul Suguru Primary School’s headmistress, madam Emilia and the Municipal Water and Sanitation Officer, Mr. Salifu.

The Commissioning Ceremony

At the commissioning ceremony, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Stephen, thanked the organization for remembering them and coming to their rescue at a time when they needed such initiative the most. He promised to prioritize the initiative’s upkeep and ensure that it is utilized effectively by himself, his staff, and the entire student body.

On the other hand, the Organization’s executive director Mr. Mutawakil Alhassan, stated that the project was in response to a request from the school’s leadership. Being able to carry out the initiative impressed him. He stated that the organization has supported other initiatives, such as borehole drilling and related initiatives in schools and communities across the region.

As a result, he urged the school to properly maintain the project to extend its useful life for the benefit of future generations and to serve as a gateway for other development projects.

He said: “When the facility is well catered for, it will serve as encouragement for the organization to embark on more projects within the school.”

The Vibrant Village Foundation provided funding for the borehole. It would help address the perennial water problem confronting the institution for decades now, and it would go a long way to save students from spending the greater part of their time roaming in the community in which the school is found in search of water for drinking and other hygienic purposes.

The Suguru R/C Junior High School was established in 1976 as a middle school and Roman Catholic mission school. It changed to the JSS system in 1987 with the first batch completing the JSS system in 1990. The school has since stood for discipline and hard work as it’s hall mark as well as promote the core values of the Catholic Church. The school has won many trophies in sports and many certificates in sixth March celebrations. It has also produced many students who have won prizes in the BECE examinations. In 2021 the school took part in quiz organised by the district and won, the school, later on, represented the district in the region and still won as the best Junior high school in the district.

Peace for Life Ghana (PLG) works in partnership with other networks and organizations to promotes peace through development oriented initiatives and programs.Access to quality health care, food and nutrition security, women and youth livelihood development, advocacy and grassroots participation in local governance are essential requirements for peace. These are the main approach used by Peace for Life Ghana in pursuit of its mission. The target groups of PLG are the youth, women and people living with disabilities.
