Northug vs. Fadlan: Two Weeks After Flyer Flare-Up, Clarity Finally on the Scope

What started as a midnight teaser two weeks ago has refused to fizzle out. The tension between rapper Fadlan and Northug Music has resurfaced, now with Northug finally breaking silence and promising to address the lingering issue publicly.

It all began when Northug Music unexpectedly dropped a flyer late one night, teasing an upcoming release titled Jeje, with Fadlan listed as a featured artist. The internet quickly lit up with excitement over what many assumed was a surprise collaboration. But the hype train screeched to a halt when Fadlan himself stepped in to shut it all down.

In a swift and unmistakably direct response, Fadlan reposted the flyer and wrote:

“I’m not aware of this. I haven’t cleared any song for you and we haven’t agreed to drop a collab. So I don’t know what you are talking about.”

He ended the post with a sharp but respectful statement:

“RESPECT TO YOU AND YOUR CRAFT BUT TAKE THIS DOWN, NorThug Music.”

The message was clear: no approval, no collaboration, no confusion. Fadlan’s tone wasn’t emotional—it was professional, decisive, and protective of his brand. For many in the industry, it was a reminder of the importance of consent and communication in any creative partnership.

In the aftermath, Northug Music remained silent. The flyer stayed up. No apology or explanation was offered until today.

On April 24 today, two weeks after the initial post, Northug Music finally broke their silence with a public statement:

“We have noticed the diverse opinions and concerns raised by numerous individuals with regards to our impending single, Jeje, which featured Fad Lan, and the ‘unfortunate’ comments passed by him when it was announced.”

The message continued:

“Together with my able team, we have consulted several well-meaning and experienced people with regards to the issue. As we work to come to an amicable conclusion soon, I will be taking some time off on Friday (25th April) to address the issues at hand for mass understanding. Look out for more information on the address soon.”

Though carefully worded, the statement stopped short of fully owning the misstep. It acknowledges public concern but still refers to the song as one “featuring Fadlan,” despite the rapper’s clear disapproval.

As we approach April 25, attention is turning back to the controversy, with fans and industry observers waiting to hear Northug’s side of the story in full. Will it be a moment of reconciliation or more fuel for the fire? One thing is certain: in an era where digital promotions can go viral in minutes, the importance of clear agreements and mutual respect between artists has never been more evident.
