UE/R: Creatives Nominate Dancehall ‘Goddess’ AlaptaWan For #24THVGMAUNSUNG
AlaptaWan-born Felicity Nketia is a talented budding singer, songwriter, and performer from the Upper East region of Ghana. Predominantly, she does Reggae and dancehall music though she is versatile. She has many awards to her credit and popular songs such as Africa is bleeding, Bossu, One Ghana, etc, in her discography.
AlaptaWan is one of the few talented musicians from the northern part of Ghana who is ready to use music to change false narratives, dispel stereotypes, preach peace, and spread positive societal values. In other words, they are making a huge contribution to the growth and peaceful coexistence of their communities.
With back-to-back hit songs in 2022, the promising dancehall goddess has demonstrated that she is at the top of her game by performing at almost every musical concert in the region and beyond country. She made exciting progress during the review year.
In light of this, the good people of the Upper East region are nominating her for the 24th VGMA in the 10th Unsung Category.
The Organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charterhouse officially opened nominations for the 10th edition of the Unsung Initiative.
The scheme introduced a new category called the Unsung Initiative in 2014 with the sole purpose of giving upcoming artiste the opportunity to breakthrough.
To further boost their career, the winner is given the opportunity to perform live on the biggest stage in entertainment- the Vodafone Ghana music awards stage.
The process, as is being done every year is simple; post a picture of your favorite upcoming artiste across all social media platforms, tag them and add the hashtag #VGMA23UNSUNG.
The artistes with the highest number of tags stands the chance of getting nominated in the unsung initiative and subsequently in the race for the ultimate.
The initiative has propelled the careers of some of Ghana’s most respected artistes; MzVee, Dark Suburb, Adomaa, Kuami Eugene, Kelvyn Boy, Kula, Teflon Flexx, and Nanky have been the winners since its inception.
The 10th edition of the Unsung initiative is a Charterhouse production powered by Close-up.
Nominees are open until 6th March 2023.
