According to the latest update from the Ghana Police Service on Sunday, 11th February, 2024, four additional individuals have been apprehended in relation to the tragic murder of Mr. Eric Johnson, the Chief Executive Officer of Cossy Hill Hotel in Jirapa. This brings the total number of suspects in custody to five.
The newly detained suspects, identified as Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Beyuo Felix, and Michael Klugey, are all employees of Cossy Hill Hotel. They are currently assisting the police in their ongoing investigation, alongside previously arrested suspect Kumbata Kwaku.
The circumstances surrounding Mr. Johnson’s murder have shocked the community, with speculations emerging regarding possible motives. Some unconfirmed reports suggest a connection between the crime and chieftaincy disputes within the Jirapa District, Mr. Johnson’s hometown.
Allegations indicate that Mr. Johnson may have been involved in efforts to influence the selection of a chief in the Jirapa traditional area, leading to tensions among certain members of the royal family. These tensions reportedly prompted a petition against Mr. Johnson, asserting that his actions threatened the peace and traditions of the community.
