Meet Atorigo Augustina Akempu-usa: A Driven Contender for Miss Upper East Ghana 2024
Atorigo Augustina Akempu-usa, a 21-year-old young woman hailing from Kandiga in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region of Ghana, is vying for the prestigious Happy Man Bitters – Miss Upper East Ghana 2024 crown. Born to Mr. Aseere Moses and Mrs. Akayeti Faustina, Augustina’s life has been a story of leadership, community service, and academic excellence.
From an early age, Augustina demonstrated her leadership potential. She completed her primary education at Building Greatness International School, where she was elected Senior Girls’ Prefect during the 2013/2014 academic year. Her leadership journey continued when she enrolled at Amenga-Etego Junior High School (2014-2017) and was selected as the Assistant Girls’ Prefect for the 2016/2017 academic year. Her high school years at Zamse Senior High/Technical School (2017-2020) further solidified her leadership capabilities, where she once again served as the Assistant Girls’ Prefect in her final year.
Currently, Augustina is a Level 300 student at Savannah College of Education (SAVCOE) in Daboya, pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree in Early Grade Education. She holds several key leadership roles within the institution, including the General Secretary of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the inaugural President of the Debate Club. In addition, she serves as the General Secretary of the Upper East Students’ Union and the Deputy Communications Director for the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) – SAVCOE chapter.
A goal-oriented and compassionate young woman, Augustina has a deep passion for supporting humanity and uplifting others. Her decision to contest for Miss Upper East Ghana 2024 stems from her desire to create a platform where she can not only showcase her talents but also promote the rich cultural heritage of her people. Speaking about her reasons for joining the competition, she shared, “I have always wanted a platform where I can showcase my talents, sell out the rich cultural heritage of my people, and empower the young ones to believe in themselves. I want to create a culture of inclusivity where everyone feels valued. Becoming Miss Upper East Ghana will provide the right forum for me to actualize these visions.”
Out of over 25 contestants in the auditions, Augustina emerged as one of the 16 finalists competing for the coveted 7th crown of Miss Upper East Ghana. This prestigious beauty and cultural pageant, founded by Ayelbis Events and proudly sponsored by Happy Man Bitters, offers young women in the region a unique platform to showcase their beauty, intelligence, and cultural pride while making a positive impact on their communities through various social initiatives.
The Miss Upper East Ghana pageant has consistently uplifted the region, not only by promoting culture and tourism but also by empowering young women to lead transformative change in their communities. With her track record of leadership, dedication to service, and passion for cultural preservation, Augustina is well-positioned to make a lasting impact in this year’s competition.
