Ghanaian Afro-pop maestro and rapper, Medikal, has set the stage for an unforgettable musical spectacle with the announcement of his upcoming concert, the “Planning and Plotting Experience,” scheduled for December 16, 2023. In an exclusive interview on TV3’s New Day, Medikal shared insights into this unique event that promises to go beyond the norm.
Despite the cancellation of his joint concert with Dancehall Artiste Shatta Wale, titled ‘Freedom Concert,’ Medikal is gearing up to captivate fans at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. Unlike his previous concerts, the “Planning and Plotting Experience” aims to showcase a diverse range of musical genres performed by various artists, offering a fresh and exciting perspective for attendees.
“Planning and Plotting is not a normal concert. The vibe is completely different; there will be music, and everything about me will be revealed on that day, alongside surprises. It is a new experience I intend to bring on board. This year’s concert is different. So I am inviting all Medikal fans to meet me on the 16th of December at La Palm,” Medikal explained, setting high expectations for the event.
The rapper expressed frustration over the lack of attention given to the lyrical depth of his songs. Emphasizing that he is a rapper, Medikal urged listeners to view his lyrics as ‘bars’ rather than conventional language. He also touched on the duality of his persona, highlighting that the flamboyant character seen on social media is distinct from the private individual, Samuel Frimpong.
“There is no one without problems in this world, and when I watch myself in some of my videos, I wonder if that is me because I am a different person, I am Samuel Frimpong, another guy,” he added, shedding light on the complexities of his public and private life.
Meanwhile, Medikal has recently dropped his 2023 album, ‘Planning & Plotting,’ a 14-track masterpiece featuring collaborations with industry heavyweights such as Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Jay Bahd, Ofori Amponsah, and more. Describing the album as a significant milestone in his career, Medikal believes ‘Planning & Plotting’ will resonate with Ghanaian rap enthusiasts, sparking conversations and leaving a lasting impression on the musical landscape.
