Renowned soul singer and songwriter Kundivi Mahama is set to enchant the audience with his soulful melodies at the upcoming 2023 Happy Man Bitters – Upper East Music Awards. Before this much-anticipated performance, let’s take a glimpse into Kundivi Mahama’s impactful journey throughout 2023.
The year marked Kundivi Mahama’s grand comeback into the professional music industry, following years of dedicated transformation and learning in both practical and theoretical aspects of music. On January 1, 2023, he launched a group to manage his career and orchestrated a remarkable return with “THE RETURN CONCERT” at Blue Line Club House in Bolga. The concert featured live band performances and drew artists from across the nation.
February saw Kundivi Mahama playing a lead role in a documentary titled “IN THE SUN,” produced by OneLove The KUBOLU. March brought about the establishment of his dedicated backing band, The Blues International Dance Band, with whom he toured across the West African Sun region. Tafaama, a long-conceived concept, finally came to life as his band collaborated with Kimmybeat to produce the track. The songs “Sheihuna” and “YINIMI,” produced in collaboration with Soorebia, resonated with different demographics, from Islamic communities to the youth in the Upper East region.
The year unfolded with a series of achievements, including participation in five different music festivals, both local and global, such as the Make Music Festival and Black Star Festival. Kundivi Mahama is currently contributing to three global album productions with Anna Kaita, Atongo Zimba, and DFLEX, set to be distributed on the international stage.
Recognized as the household name for live band music in Northern Ghana, Kundivi Mahama played a pivotal role in reviving the live band culture in the Upper East region. In November 2023, he received a certificate for his three-year Live Sound Engineering program at Virtual Sound Music Academy in Accra. The same month, he graced the Mosheinaara Festival in Ouagadougou.
