Gyakie discloses: Music Was Not My Priority

Afrobeat sensation Gyakie, known for her chart-topping hit “Forever,” recently revealed that music wasn’t initially her primary focus. In an enlightening conversation on The Day Show with Berla Mundi, Gyakie shared the unexpected journey that led her from aspirations of entrepreneurship to becoming a rising star in the music industry.
The “Forever” hitmaker disclosed that her initial goal was to pursue a career in entrepreneurship, studying International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Gyakie had envisioned herself venturing into the world of business to secure financial success.
However, fate had a different plan for Gyakie, and her musical journey took an unforeseen turn during her time at KNUST. It was there that she crossed paths with her producer, Sosa, thanks to a fortuitous introduction by a friend on campus. Reflecting on this pivotal encounter, Gyakie shared, “Before I went to KNUST, I just wanted to be an entrepreneur. I wanted to get money, so I studied International Business until I met my producer, Sosa, on campus through a friend.”
This chance meeting proved to be a turning point in Gyakie’s life as Sosa sent her a beat that eventually became her debut single, “Never Like This.” The track not only marked the beginning of her musical journey but also showcased her innate talent for songwriting.
Since her debut, Gyakie has risen to prominence with a string of hits, including “Something” and her latest release, “Rent Free,” which is already making waves across various social media platforms. Gyakie’s story serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of destiny and the remarkable turns a passion for music can take, even when it wasn’t the original plan.
