Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum, the talented young Ghanaian singer and CEO of Askof Productions Limited, is set to embark on a groundbreaking journey to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest individual singing marathon. The event, scheduled to span an impressive 117 hours, is a determined effort to surpass the current record of 105 hours held by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare since 2012.
Miss Aduonum’s ambitious endeavor is distinguished by her commitment to exclusively sing Ghanaian songs, showcasing the diverse genres of gospel, highlife, and hiplife. The remarkable marathon is slated to take place at the Aviation Social Centre in Accra, promising an unforgettable musical experience.
Beyond a personal milestone, Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum aims to use this platform to champion and promote Ghanaian music on a global scale. At the launch of her venture, she drew inspiration from Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon, where a cooking record was successfully broken, sparking her determination to make a similar mark in the music realm.
Reflecting on her decision to take up the singing challenge, Aduonum expressed her initial hope that a Ghanaian musician would have embraced the opportunity. However, she has willingly accepted the challenge, vowing to give her best effort to make the nation proud.
With a passion for singing and a profound desire to contribute positively to Ghana, Aduonum stated, “I love to sing and want to use my talent to make a mark for Ghana. This is about Ghana, and we need all the support.”
Her venture has already monopolized social media trends since its official announcement, signaling the immense anticipation and support surrounding this remarkable feat. As Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum takes the stage, her journey becomes not just a personal triumph but a celebration of Ghanaian music, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence.
