In a revelation that adds a new dimension to the intricate world of musical collaborations, award-winning Ghanaian singer and songwriter Efya, also known as Jane Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, recently shared insights into her acclaimed partnerships with various artists. Notably, she highlighted her exceptional chemistry and success with renowned rapper Sarkodie.
In an exclusive interview on Joy Fm’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, the ‘Super Super’ hitmaker expressed that her best collaborations are the ones she did with Sarkodie. Despite working with nearly 120 artists, Efya emphasized the unique challenge and reward found in her collaborations with the ‘Better Days’ rapper.
“I have worked with almost 120 artistes. So the hardest collaboration will be anything that I did with Sarkodie,” Efya stated.
Reiterating a statement made on Twitter about two years ago, Efya emphasized the need for artists to revisit and fine-tune collaborations recorded several years ago. She believes that musical tastes evolve, and adjustments are necessary to align with the present preferences of music enthusiasts.
“Nowadays it depends on the mic you are using. There is a certain way that I need things to be. The upgrade is not easy. When it’s done, it has to be maintained. It’s not really that bad. It’s no shade or anything. Come, let’s make the song better,” she explained.
Efya’s perspective underscores the dynamic nature of the music industry, emphasizing the importance of staying current and delivering works that resonate with contemporary audiences. As her collaborations continue to resonate with fans, Efya stands as a testament to the evolving artistry within the Ghanaian music scene.
