Charger Limited Donates Borehole to Garu-Zaari-Kolmasug Community
In a momentous event on Sunday, June 23, 2024, Charger Limited marked a significant contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) by donating a borehole to the community of Garu-Zaari-Kolmasug. This initiative shows the company’s commitment to ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Edward Anafo, Regional Manager of Charger Limited, highlighted the importance of this donation. “Water is essential not only for our production processes but for the health and prosperity of the communities we serve. By providing this borehole, we are contributing to the UN’s goal of clean water and sanitation for all,” he stated. Mr. Anafo emphasized that this project is part of Charger Limited’s broader efforts in environmental stewardship and social responsibility. “This is just the beginning. We plan to undertake more projects that align with our guiding principles and support sustainable development in our regions,” he added.
Hon. Mahama Kassim, Assemblyman for the Zaare Electoral area, expressed profound gratitude to Charger Limited. He recounted the community’s struggles with water scarcity, especially during the rainy season when the stream’s high water levels prevented access to clean water sources. The new borehole will drastically improve their living conditions by providing reliable access to clean water.
Naba Atiiga Asako, Chief of the Zaare-Kolmasug traditional area, also extended his appreciation to Charger Limited. He assured that the community would take good care of the borehole to ensure its longevity and effectiveness.
Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, CEO and Founder of Charger Limited, shared his excitement about the project on social media: “My company and I are thrilled to announce that Charger Limited has donated a borehole to the Zaari community in Garu as part of our commitment to make a positive impact in 2024! This borehole will provide clean and safe drinking water, ensuring better health and well-being for all residents.”
He continued, “At Charger Limited, we believe in supporting sustainable development, and this donation directly contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. By providing access to clean water, we are helping to achieve universal access to safe and affordable drinking water for all. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the Garu community and look forward to continuing our efforts towards a more sustainable future.”
