Nigerian Pastor Sentenced to Death for Killing Choir Mistress After Impregnating Her

In a shocking case that has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian community, a pastor has been sentenced to death for the murder of his choir mistress, along with her friend and their infant daughter. The tragic incident took place in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, and the verdict was handed down by a High Court in Port Harcourt.

The convicted man, identified as Chidiebere Okoroafor, is the General Overseer of the Altar of Solution and Healing Assembly. He impregnated the choir mistress, Orlunma Nwagba, and it was during a meeting with her and her friend, Chigozie Ezenwa, that the horrifying events unfolded.

According to reports, Okoroafor lured the women into a bush under false pretenses, where he mercilessly took their lives. The court was presented with compelling evidence, including the pastor’s own confessions, which led to his conviction. The presiding judge, S.O. Benson, declared that the evidence and confessions conclusively demonstrated Okoroafor’s guilt.

In delivering the sentence, Justice Benson stated that the pastor would be executed by either hanging or lethal injection. The ruling was intended to serve as a deterrent to others with criminal intentions, as stated by the prosecution counsel from the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Precious Ordu.

The incident and subsequent trial have sparked widespread outrage and raised important questions about the abuse of power and trust within religious institutions. The case serves as a grim reminder of the need for accountability and responsible leadership within religious organizations.

While the verdict brings some measure of justice to the victims and their grieving families, it also highlights the urgent need to address issues surrounding sexual misconduct and abuse of power within religious circles. Society must remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and well-being of its members, and religious institutions have a responsibility to foster an environment of trust, respect, and compassion.

The tragic story of Orlunma Nwagba, Chigozie Ezenwa, and their innocent child should serve as a call to action for all, urging us to work towards creating a society where such heinous acts are prevented and justice is swift and impartial. Only through collective effort and a commitment to change can we hope to prevent such devastating incidents from recurring in the future.
