Mahama’s Pledge: Completing NPP Projects and Fostering Continuity If Win In 2024

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a significant promise as he gears up for the 2024 elections. He has assured the Ghanaian people that if he is elected, he will ensure the completion of all projects initiated under the current administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, emphasizing his commitment to continuity and responsible governance.
Mahama firmly stated that his leadership would not abandon any projects that were started by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He believes in the importance of utilizing taxpayers’ money efficiently and sees it as the responsibility of the NDC to carry forward projects that benefit the nation.
“I’m making a promise that when we come, we will continue all abandoned projects. Even projects that this current NPP government does not finish, we will continue and finish because they are funded by taxpayers’ money, so when you abandon them, you’re wasting the money of Ghanaians,” Mahama declared during a gathering at the NDC Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Stakeholders Forum in Accra on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
Mahama’s commitment to continuity and responsible governance aligns with the principles of the NDC, which he described as a patriotic and well-meaning political party. The party emphasizes the efficient utilization of resources and the fulfillment of promises made to the electorate.
During the forum, Mahama expressed his concern about landmark projects initiated by his party, particularly in Zongo communities, that have been allegedly neglected by the current administration. He cited examples like the E-Blocks, which were allocated to Zongo and Muslim communities but have remained unfinished. Mahama’s assertion is that such projects deserve to be completed to ensure that the resources of the Ghanaian people are put to good use.
Mahama’s promise to continue and complete these projects reflects his commitment to the welfare of the Ghanaian people, particularly those in underserved communities. As the 2024 elections draw nearer, his pledge to foster continuity and responsible governance is likely to resonate with voters who value effective utilization of public resources and the completion of initiatives that benefit the nation.
Acknowledging the immense support his party has received from Zongo communities and the Islamic fraternity over the years, Mahama pledged to never take this support for granted. His promise to continue and complete these vital projects demonstrates his determination to honor the trust placed in him by the Ghanaian people.
