#24thVGMA: I Have Spent Ghc20,000 On Voting – DJ Azonto

Ghanaian musician DJ Azonto has made a shocking revelation about the huge amount of money he has invested in the upcoming 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

According to DJ Azonto, he has invested heavily in the awards season, having spent over GHS 20,000 on voting for himself. He is optimistic that he would emerge the ultimate winner of his category ‘New Artiste Of The Year’.

He shares the category with other talented emerging artistes such as Lasmid, Djay, Malcom Nuna, Jay Bhad, Ewuraabena, and Chief One.

In an interview with Zion Felix on his podcast, DJ Azonto claimed his song “Fa Ne Fom,” which has gained him the recognition was more popular than ‘Sugarcane’ by Camidoh in the year under review.

He said the song was played at every event, including weddings, funerals, and parties for the past year hence, he is disappointed that it has not been nominated under the ‘Popular Song Of The Year’ category.

The VGMA awards ceremony, considered one of the most prestigious music events in the country, recognizes and rewards outstanding achievements in various categories.

This year’s event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center. Notable among artistes battling it out for the coveted award ‘Artiste Of The Year’ are Black Sherif, Piesie Esther, Stonebwoy, Camidoh, Kidi, and King Promise among others.
