24th VGMA: Asake Crowned African Artiste Of The Year Over Burna Boy, Libianca, Ayra Star Kizz Daniel And Others

At the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Nigerian singer and serial hitmaker Asake was named African Artiste Of The Year.

At the awards show that took place last night, May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), the singer was selected as the recipient of the prize.

Asake, whose genuine name is Ahmed Ololade, beat rivalry from Arya Star, Burna Kid, Kizz Daniel, Libianca, and The Therapist to win the award.

Asake entered the music industry in 2022. Fast-forward to today and his monster hit song “Sungba” propelled him to fame since then he has been releasing impressive songs from back to back.

He has become a household name across the African continent thanks to his distinctive Yoruba singing style over upbeat Afro and Amapiano production.

In 2022, he put out his first album, “Mr. Money with the Vibe,” and the songs on it topped music charts in Ghana, Nigeria, and other nations.

He was recognized and named the Best African Artiste in the year under review at the 24th VGMA, a testament to hihard workkork and the impact that his music has had on the entertainment industry in the short term.

At the ceremony in Accra, Black Sherif, an undisputed rising star in rap, was also named Ghanaian Artiste of the Year.

He defeated King Promise, Piesie Esther, Sarkodie, Joe Mettle, Stonebwoy, Camidoh, and KiDi to take home the prize.

Stonebwoy, Camidoh, Lasmid, Black Sherif, Epixode, King Promise, Piesie Esther, and Amerado Burner, among others, won numerous awards too.

Throughout the blissful night, electrifying performances were given by some of Ghana’s most sought-after artists. Sarkodie, King Promise, Gyakie, Black Sherif, DSL, Epixode, and others.
